Gabbra's Song

Published in late 2006, author Janey Volden's new youth fiction novel, Gabbra's Song, is the story of two teenage girls, one from western Canada, and one from a nomadic tribe in northern Kenya, and the friendship that builds during a spring break in East Africa. It is filled with adventure, cultural diversity, passion and survival.

"Gabbra's Song is a magical, eye-opening read. The similarities and differences between two teenage girls—a Canadian and an African—are very revealing. I love that each girl has a taste of the other one’s life and that they find a way of doing something constructive in their lives."
